Castles and Ruins of Northumberland
Northumberland has some of the countries most impressive
English Medieval Castles, Roman Forts
and Ruins dating back many Centuries. Some follow the coastline
like Alnwick Castle and it's nearby neighbour Dunstanburgh. While
slightly up the coast lies Bamburgh a magnificent castle originating
back to the 11th century. Hadrian's Wall crosses the county with
many Ruins and castles from Newcastle to Carlisle including Prudhoe,
Aydon and Langley. A little further inland you can find Castles
or Ruins at Belsay Edlingham, Harbottle,
Chillingham, Ford, Etal and many more.
